Kiarash Khazaei (born in Iran, currently lives and works in Paris).
Khazaei studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Städelschule, Germany (2015-2019) under Professor Amy Sillman and Monika Baer. In 2018 he participated in the Fire Island Artist Residency Exhibition, at Cherry Grove, Fire Island, New York.
Kiarash Khazaei's paintings are permeated by an aura of eroticism and decadence, and loaded with codes and double-meanings, the works point to the intricacies of self-identity, while celebrating moments of transformation.
Bringing to mind poles of intellect and physicality, the androgynous figures in his paintings engage in rituals of courtship, sex and death that seem to be based on a theatrical exaggeration of emotion.
