Item 1 of 3

Drawn to ideas on non-linear time, mythological figures and science fiction, Klara Zetterholm's works convey a sense of uncanniness and reflections on binaries such as ultramodern and prehistoric, prosperous and apocalyptic.

Her bas-relief work Orgy is made of sculptured figures glued onto the surface and painted to look similar to wood and bronze. The relief is in itself an antique form of sculpture, mostly decorative in the architecture of the past, enabling the creation of frescoes of monsters and anthropomorphic figures to surface.

Klara Zetterholm (b.1991 in Stockholm, SE) lives and works in Stockholm. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm in 2022 and her MFA exhibition was awarded a grant from the Bonnier Foundation. Klara works in a broad field of sculpture, involving painting, installation, and assemblage. With a background in scenography and decor painting, the artist employs methods used in stage and set design in order to create false narratives, mainly of archeology and natural history.

Her recent exhibitions include the MFA spring show at Kungl. Konsthögskolan (2022), Inside /Outside at Coulisse gallery (2022), CREAM (2022), Downtown Issues at Issues gallery (2021), and Survival of the fittest at Accelerator (2020). Upcoming shows in 2023 include a solo show at Thomassen gallery in Gothenburg and a temporary exhibition at Odenplan’s subway station in association with Kulturförvaltingen.
