Isadora Vogt's practice encompasses drawing, painting, collages and video work and is informed by a strong interest in the concept and imagery of romanticisation in relation to topics like identity and power structures.
In her paintings and collages she often draws on folkloristic and fairy-tale motifs as well as historical references, combining found objects and archival materials, like stationary paper, magazine cutouts and photographs.
Vogt uses costumes and staging techniques as a means of self-representation and to question preconceived notions of identity and gender-based archetypes.
Her new video work "Zwischen Waldhaus und Rothaus" is set in the Black Forest and juxtaposes the romanticisation of landscape with the masking of industrial and economical interests also present in this area.
Isadora Vogt (b. 1992 in Zurich) lives and works in Basel, Switzerland. She completed a BA at Institut Kunst FHNW in Basel and an MA at the Royal College of Art in London.
